Hannah Walt Psychotherapy

Approach

There is no "one-size-fits-all" approach to therapy.

Instead, my approach integrates elements of various evidence-based treatments to best meet your unique needs. I primarily draw from Emotion-Focused, Acceptance-and-Commitment, and Cognitive-Behavioural approaches within a trauma- and attachment-informed framework.

More generally, our focus is often on shifting problematic emotion patterns. People tend to begin therapy "stuck" with chronic feelings of anxiety or shame, with low or unstable moods, or feeling altogether disconnected from their emotional experiences. Becoming "unstuck" requires a collaborative process of working with emotion, as well as with related thought patterns and behaviours, to improve your overall wellbeing.

Your feedback is always important to me in guiding our therapeutic work.

Background

I am a Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist and member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Services Workers. Throughout my career I have provided clinical services in community, hospital-based, and private settings. My work has primarily been with adults and older youth (aged 16+) from a wide range of backgrounds.

I completed my Masters degree in Social Work with Carleton University. Ongoing education is very important to me: I regularly attend continuing training and consultation in the field of psychotherapy to ensure I am providing up-to-date, effective treatment for my clients.

Outside of my work I value spending time with loved ones, taking time to unwind, and exploring new creative outlets.
